The City of Adelaide has a population of 26,000 and City of Adelaide has four sister cities:
Austin, Texas, United States - 1983
Christchurch, New Zealand - 1972
George Town, Penang, Malaysia - 1973
Himeji, Japan - 1982
It is a pretty city, very clean and its people are courteous and polite - probably the most considerate drivers of any other city in Australia that I have experienced. Adelaide is known as Australia's "City of Churches" and is the only Capital City of a state of Australia that was founded by free settlers and had no convicts involved in its settlement. Adelaide is surrounded by a vast network of vineyards that produce some of Australia's great wines from areas like the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. There was a strong German and Scottish element in the latter settlers in South Australia.

What a beautiful and clean little city! I can see why you visit! A lovely tour! Thanks, John!
'Adelaideans' are very proud of their city and city maintenance is a priority. We were very impressed with the cleanliness - all aspects - streets, facilities, transport - and a minimum of grafitti as well!
