When I was six and on a boat trip we spotted some killer whales. To scare me my brothers convienced me they often attacked and sank boats to eat the sailors. This would have really scared the crap out of me!

We were fishing offshore from Batemans Bay one year, trolling for game fish in a larger cruiser a while back. One of the guys latched on to a school shark of about 2.5 metres (10 footer) and it was giving him a real fight - vicious bugger - any-hoo-dee-doo, as he got it up to the surface it broached and jumped right into the boat, threshing around like crazy. Made a mess of all our lines and gear until one game guy took to it with an axe and killed it - blood and shark bits everywhere
