Basketball player Lauren Jackson carries the Australian flag at her third Olympics
Great to see "Eric-the-Eel" (Eric Moussambani Malonga, born May 31, 1978) from Equatorial Guinea carrying his countries flag.
Now all we need is Britain's Eddie the Eagle! LOL! (Michael Edwards born 5 December 1963, better known as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, a British skier who was the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping.)

what do you think of the opening ceremony john?
Seems a bit 'tuned down', 'low key'. Is the Lord mayor trying to save a few bob, or, is security that tight?
I think the games are a good thing for Britain - the UK has had its fair share of poor luck of late and this event will be like Lizzie's Post War Coronation - an event to lift the people's spirits.
I've been watching Jamie Oliver's latest show (out here) "Jamie O's Great Britain" - first episode last night he "did" London in a converted army truck done up as a kitchen. Is J O doing the catering for the Games? lol!
