I bought 2.5kg (5lb) of prawns (shrimp), two large snapper fillets which were carved off a whole fish for me in the shop and a dozen opened Clyde River Oysters - total $48AUS. I went to the butchers and bought a Pork loin roast, 6 lamb loin chops and 1kg (2lb) of topside mice for $24AUS. I bought 5 Kiwi fruit, 2 tangelos, 6 Imperial mandarins, 6 green bananas, three bunches of Bok Choy, 5 tomatoes, 3 carrots, 12 baby (Chat) potatoes, 6 washed new potatoes, a cauliflower, 2 pieces of broccoli and a loaf of wood-fire baked crusty Italian bread for $35AUS at the greengrocers.
I had lunch at the Chinese BBQ place - wonton soup with noodles and green vegetables. All up $120AUS for the morning's shopping and great quality produce - as 'fresh as'!
On the way home I took a few piccies of the changing road conditions from ACT roads to NSW roads,
Kingsford Smith Drive - 4 lane divided
Kingsford Smith Drive - 4 lane divided
Kingsford Smith Drive - 4 lane undivided - approaching
Kuringa Drive on the very outskirts of Canberra (Melba)
Kuringa Drive - 'bridge' is actually a chute from one paddock
to another to move mobs of sheep over the roadway
Barton Highway in Canberra, leaving the ACT - 4 lane divided
Barton Highway now in NSW - 2 lane undivided - one of our
highest traffic accident roads in NSW
Barton Highway NSW - you can see why it has a high accident rate -
we call this section "The Mad Mile"!
