Imagine the surprise for early morning lap swimmers, when arriving at Sydney's famed Newport Beach ocean pool this morning to find this floating in the pool!

That is definitely something you don't see every day.
Eww.
I would think it might have been a bit smelly, too.
Happy August to you all, John!
*Sad* but like us mammals do not live forever either.
They now have the problem of getting the rapidly deteriorating carcass out of the Ocean Pool - in the meantime, "Pool Closed" and off-limits, so Narrabeen Beach Ocean Pool has increased its attendance! LOL!
I lived at Newport and swam in the Newport baths each weekend. Poor whale...glad I'm not there to see the poor creature.
I don't know why, but I do find the death of any whale a sadness. And yes a difficult problem logistically if it dies in or around a popular swimming hole. I suspect the sharks are happy though.
