We had a frost in the back yard this morning - light but still a frost - and two weeks before Anzac Day
There was ice on the garbage and recycle bins, light frost on the grass near the shade house and frost along the roof of the shade house.
We had a light fall of snow on the northern ranges and in the southern Alps - augers well for the snow bunnies but not for the rest of us!
Weather forecaster Andrea Peace said the snow on the northern ranges was
the first of the year, aside from a sprinkle over upper Victoria in January.

This is significant weather for us. Usually Anzac Day (our national Day of Commemoration to honour all those who served and especially those who made the Supreme Sacrifice in War) is regarded as the front edge of 'winter' around here and from then on we expect frosts. This one is two weeks early!

All of this is in line with my belief that we are in for a very cold (and likely wet) winter with a strong possibility of local snow flurries.

I guess you will be getting the winter that never was in the lower US.

"Just Me"
That's what I was thinking. Snow had to go somewhere I guess.
I feel for you, John. I don't handle the cold as well as I used to, either.
Don't know how you guys cope. If the temp. drops below 70F here I'm dragging out the space heater...very old bones I'd say eh? Smiles - Astrid
Hi John, If we have a wet winter we'll be lucky ...we won't get that icy wind and the temps will ne a little higher. It's been getting quite cold here at night now and I've been waiting for some light frosts.
Yes, I think with age we feel these things a lot more. Arthritis doesn't help at all, does it? Sue
Don't bet on that Sue - I've seen lateral rain, westerly wind driven and coming sideways at you in August/September several times before in my lifetime. Got the Drizabone ready, anyway!
